I don't wanna!

Hey Hey!

I was talking with a client today about a strange phenomenon that occurs when logging food.  After giving her my supportive sincere glare and saying "if you log you will lose if you don't you won't sister"line she said "oh, I totally get that now."Her story was something like this. "I ate a cookie because I was baby sitting my niece."

(I sensed the tale was going to get more interesting so I used every ounce of restraint to keep me from pointing out that baby sitting a niece and eating a cookie are completely unrelated, but I know from experience clients throw that "because" in there so i won't think bad of them, and waiting to hear the real reason is always better for both of us.)

She continued to explain that she was experiencing EXTREME resistance to entering the cookie in her log. She didn't want me to see it, and she didn't want to see it either, kind of like.... if I don't look it is not really happening. BUT the cool thing is she noticed the resistance and entered the cookie anyway, saw that it wasn't THAT bad and in the grand scheme of things was still on track for her goals.

This is an excellent illustration of why logging food is so critical to getting results from a fitness program.

Logging food is NOT a guilt trip. It is a road map. And most often it shows that you were just on the shoulder, not in the ditch. This prevents folks from giving up like they do in Week 5 of a fitness program when it just "isn't happening fast enough".

The facts are right in front of them, and just like with your finances, you can make SOUND, SANE decisions when you know exactly what it going on.

Keep it up "J" and thanks for inspiring today's blog.
