Day 90 of 100 - Your pain is your teacher
March 31st.
C. S. Lewis talks about it in the "Problem of Pain" and Tony Robbins basically uses it as the foundation for success in "Awaken the Giant Within". USE pain as a teacher, a motivator, and a guide to polish yourself in every aspect of your life. Let shame and guilt create virtue and let the pain of gluttony produce inspirational fitness. If you feel pain.....small or massive...listen to it. What is it telling you? What are you unwilling to give up that is causing the pain? This was mine...
Although educational, my management consulting career was driving me bonkers. I traveled every single week on Sunday afternoon to a destination across the country and then returned on Friday afternoon and got back on a plane on Sunday afternoon.
I was in offices everyday with people who would just as soon spit on me than listen to what I had to say. Their boss's boss had hired us to improve processes they thought were already perfect except they did not have enough people.
The truth was they were desensitized, unorganized, and had TOO many people. So my company helped them become sensitised, organized, and Donald Trump any other poor saps who spent their day in a coffee room trying to look busy. Fun huh?
It was painful. So painful that it pushed this procrastinating Mofo into taking daily action to start his own business. My first attempt was going to be renting motocross bikes to folks who did not want to buy one, but insurance companies had this thing about a business where people where likely to break their neck every 5 minutes. Wusses.
Well thank goodness for their wussyness because I started David King Fitness and now do what I want to do with just about everyday that I am alive. How did that happen?
I listened to my Pain. There had to be a way.
Take 5 minutes to think about your Pain. I was willing to give up everything besides God and family. Even go into a little bit of debt. Okay a lot of debt, but now I don't ever have to work a 9 to 5 job every again. How about that for an investment Wall Street??
What are you willing to give up to create joy from pain?
